Message from the Head of School
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Fall Potluck and Open House! The food was plentiful and delicious, and our community welcomed visiting families. Thank you to our amazing students for serving as Admissions Ambassadors and Tour Guides. We look forward to celebrating with all of you again!PSAT Testing was Wednesday, October 10th
Sophomores and Juniors took the PSAT on Wednesday, October 10th. This test is the US standardized test offered worldwide to help students prepare for their college entrance exams. Score reports will be available in December, along with suggestions for each student on how to improve their testing on the SAT in spring of Junior year.

Progress Reports – Wednesday, October 17th
Student progress reports will be sent home with students on Wednesday, October 17th. If you do not have the opportunity to see your child’s report, please email School Office Assistant Anna Yu at ayu@wissf.org for an additional copy.

Parent Education Event – Monday, October 29th
Parents Coalition of Bay Area High Schools will sponsor a speaker event on Monday, October 29th. The important topic is “The Well-Balanced Student.”  The Speaker is Mary Hofstedt, Community Education Director at Challenge Success, a program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education which encourages students to live a healthy and balanced life. The event is at San Francisco Waldorf High School, 470 West Portal, at 7:30-9:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Register at ParentsCoalition.Net.

Halloween Party – Wednesday, October 31st
We will be celebrating Halloween on the afternoon of October 31st. Morning classes will be held as usual, but classes will be canceled after lunch for the celebrations. Students are encouraged to wear costumes! The day will end early at 3:00 pm.

Faculty Meeting – Tuesday, November 6th
We will be holding our monthly faculty meeting on Tuesday, November 6th. 8:30 am classes will be canceled, and all other classes will be held as usual. Students should arrive in time for their 9:30 am classes.

Next Newsletter – Friday, November 9th
Newsletters are emailed home and posted to the website on the Friday after the monthly Faculty Meeting. Be sure to read these important updates every month.

Veterans Day – Monday, November 12th
School will be closed on Monday, November 12th in observance of Veterans Day, which honors the women and men who have served in the armed forces of the United States. Classes will resume at 8:30 am on Tuesday, November 13th.

Teachers’ Lunch Program

Thank you to the parents who have supported our Teacher Lunch Program! We continue to look for volunteers to provide lunch for teachers on Thursdays throughout the semester. We ask that families bring food or money to feed 12 people, half of whom are vegetarian. Please contact Ariel at aedwards@wissf.org if you are interested in participating. We love our teachers, and they appreciate your support!
