Holiday Food Drive – Monday, November 18th-Friday, December 13th
Our annual holiday food drive has begun. This is a time for our students and faculty to remember those less fortunate in life, who do not have the privilege of enough food to eat. Please encourage your student to donate non-perishable food in non-glass containers for the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank to help feed people in need. They can bring extra food from home or buy a small bag of groceries. Here are some suggested food items:

Free Tickets for WIS Students at SF International Hip Hop DanceFest - Sunday, November 24th, 5:00pm
Students, your complimentary ticket will be at the WILL CALL BOOTH for the 5:00pm performance on Sunday, November 24 at the Palace of Fine Arts, 3601 Lyon Street in the Marina District by the Presidio. This is not a school field trip, just a very generous gift, easily accessible by the 28 bus line
. The DanceFest features groundbreaking hip hop performances by professional dance companies from around the world, honoring the artistry of hip hop dance in a non-competitive environment and presenting inspiring, electrifying, and thought-provoking works.
Please be there early to make time for parking and pre-show festivities. Parents, teachers, and friends can buy tickets at the booth when you pick up the free tickets; ticket price information is available

Faculty Meeting – Tuesday, November 26th
We will be holding our monthly faculty meeting on Tuesday, November 26th. 8:30am classes will be canceled, and all other classes will be held as usual. Students should arrive in time for their 9:30am classes.
Speaker Series – Tuesday, November 26th
Our Speaker Series continues on Tuesday, November 26
th at 2:00pm. Our speaker will be breakdancer Navid Rezvani. He is an Iranian-born Norwegian citizen who travels the world speaking and giving dance workshops and was featured on the TV show
Norway´s Got Talent! He will speak here for 30 minutes on inclusion, positive self-acceptance, self-expression, experience through active participation, and bridge-making through art, followed by a 30 minute dance workshop! Here is an amazing clip from

Thanksgiving Break – Wednesday-Friday, November 27th-29th
School will be closed for these three days for Thanksgiving Break. Thanksgiving began in the US as a day to give thanks for a bountiful autumn harvest. It has evolved into a national holiday to express gratitude for our blessings in life. Classes will resume at 8:30 am on Monday, December 2nd.
Parent Education Event – Monday, December 9th

Progress Reports - Wednesday, December 11th
Progress reports will be sent home with students this week. If you do not have the opportunity to see your child’s report, please email Administrative and Marketing Assistant Ari Litvak at

Semester Exam Review Days – Wednesday-Friday, December 11th-13th
During semester exam review days, teachers will review study guides with students to help prepare for each exam. No new material will be covered during this time.
Winter Games Afternoon - Friday, December 13th
All classes are canceled on Winter Games Afternoon so that students and teachers can celebrate the end of the semester with a pizza party and other activities. Games Day is a mandatory school day.
Final Exams – Monday-Wednesday, December 16th-18th
Students and families have received as semester exam study schedule and a semester exam schedule. Beginning Monday, December 16th, students only need to attend school on the days and times of their exams.
Make-up Exam Day - Thursday, December 19th
Students who miss an exam for a legitimate reason and have an excused absence in writing from Joanne are allowed to take the exam during the make-up day.
Teacher Grading Day - Friday, December 20th (Student Holiday)
No classes will be held on Teachers’ Day, while teachers grade exams and calculate semester grades.

th for Faculty Professional Development Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 7th.
Teacher Lunch Program
Thank you to the parents who have supported our Teacher Lunch Program! We are looking for volunteers to provide lunch for teachers on Thursdays throughout the semester. We ask that families bring food or money to feed 6 people, half of whom are vegetarian. Please contact Ari Litvak at
