Woodside International School Newsletter
Message from the Head of School
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are delighted to see the familiar faces of our returning students and thrilled to welcome our new students. This first Newsletter of the year will provide some reminders for our families, and help us all prepare for the year ahead.
Fall Semester Overview
In the coming weeks, we will let you know about our upcoming field trips, prepare for school events, and provide feedback on academic progress through our frequent Progress Reports. Please refer to the school calendar on our website, and mark your calendars to remember these important dates.
Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 2nd
School will be closed on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day, a national U.S. holiday honoring the contributions that workers make to the strength and well-being of our country. Classes will resume at 8:30am on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Admissions Tours begin on Tuesday, September 3rd
Throughout the school year, but especially in the fall, interested families tour the school to learn about our program here at Woodside. Teachers always know in advance when tours are scheduled, and we do our best to explore the school without disrupting classes. We thank our students for welcoming any visitors to the classroom.
Student Information Forms due by Friday, September 6th
New and returning families need to complete these forms each year: Family Contact Form, Medical Form, Emergency and Off-Campus Form, and Guardianship Form if the student will not live with a parent. Those who have received recent reminders should please send these forms in by Friday, September 6th.

Faculty meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. On Faculty Meeting days, 8:30 a.m. classes will be canceled, and all other classes will be held as usual. Students should arrive in time for their 9:30 a.m. classes.
Progress Reports on Wednesday, September 25th

Next Newsletter on Friday, September 27th
Newsletters will be emailed home and posted to the website on the last Friday of the month. Be sure to read these important updates every month.
Teacher Lunch Program
Thank you to the parents who have supported our Teacher Lunch Program! We are looking for volunteers to provide lunch for teachers on Thursdays throughout the semester. We ask that families bring food or money to feed 10 people, half of whom are vegetarian. Please contact Ari Litvak at alitvak@wissf.org if you are interested in participating. We love our teachers, and they appreciate your support!
